Camp Descriptions:

Music Around the World – June 5th or 6th

“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth!” (Psalm 95)  That’s just what we’ll do at this camp!  We will travel the globe making stops at each continent around the world, meeting new instruments, learning new songs and dances, and enjoying a tasty treat from each.  Each camper will make two unique instruments and will hear samplings of some of the most beautiful music on earth.   Ages 3 yrs. – Kind.

Toy Story 2- June 5th or 6th:

Our hit of a camp is back with all the usual suspects!  We’ll do lots of art:  Rex, the aliens, and Buzz and Woody too!  Jessie will make her appearance and who could forget – Hamm, Slinky, Bullseye and maybe even that ole’ prospector?!  Come join us again this year for a day of fun.   As always, “You’ve got a friend in us!” Ages 3 yrs. – Kind.

Backyard Critters – June 7th or 8th:

WHAT’s IN YOUR BACKYARD? Come explore with our science teacher as she takes you on a scavenger hunt to see what critters are in your own backyard.  Each explorer will learn what songs a bird may sing,the differences between frogs and toads, and how to identify reptiles slithering in the grass.  View live toads, tadpoles, mealworms, and other critters, and take home your own “Critter Keeper”!  Ages 3 yrs. – Kind.

Circus – June 7th or 8th:

Step right up folks, don’t be shy!  Come one, come all to the greatest CAMP on Earth! We’ll play games, paint faces, make crafts galore and enjoy tasty carnival treats with the greatest of ease.  Your ringmasters look forward to having you!  Ages 3 yrs. – Kind.

Fine Motor Madness – June 12th or 13th:

Fine motor skills are a must for school success! Come experience tons of activities with tongs, clothespins, scissors, hole punches, crayons, wikki sticks and play dough.  Each child creates their own motor madness bag with activities to keep them busy all Summer.  Children who attend this camp are aure to be a “cut” above the rest!  Ages 3 yrs. – Kind.

All About Art – June 12th or 13th:

Join us as we create many different forms of art. We’ll: paint-watercolors & acrylics; sculpt-clay and other various supplies; draw-a still life masterpiece with chalk & colored pencils and so much more.  We’ll learn a litttle about the great art masters who came before us while we are at it! Ages 3 yrs. – Kind.

Fancy Nancy Returns (Girls ONLY) – June 14th or 15th:

Get all dressed up and come for a morning of fun, fancy, feathers, and frou-frou! We will visit the spa and enjoy a shopping spree at the Oh-La-La Boutique.  Decorate a purse and learn fancy vocabulary words.  We will conclude the day with parfaits at the parlor!  Ages 3 yrs. – Kind.

Ships Ahoy! (Boys ONLY) – June 14th or 15th:

Ahoy Mateys! Ye be invited fer some fun. X marks the spot as we go on a scavenger hunt with our treasure maps in tow.  We’ll create our own treasure chest, make spyglasses, play musical islands, and dig for gold dubloons.  Join our crew, fer a fun time is sure to be had by all ye landlubbers.   Capt. Camille and first mate Alexis can’t wait to walk the plank with ye!  Ages 3 yrs. – Kind.

Princess “Par-Tea” (Girls ONLY) – June 19th or 20th:

Join us from a girly and frilly time! We will read about Gi-Gi, God’s Little Princess, and talk about how we are all God’s Little Princesses!  Princess arts and crafts, and a  Tea Party fit for a princess!  Ages 3 yrs. – Kind.

Out of this World (Boys ONLY) – June 19th or 20th:

10, 9, 8…Let the countdown begin for a morning of camp fun to be had by all!  We’ll make rockets, search for moon rocks, make astronaut packs and NASA headgear and much, much more.  Come have a BLAST! Ages 3 yrs. – Kind.

What’s the Weather Like Today? – June 21st or 22nd:

Join us as we journey through all Four Seasons of the year… We will ice-skate through the Winter, sing to welcome the Spring time, bask in the Summer sun, then feel the Autumn wind blow in!  Pack up and come along with us!   Ages 3 yrs. – Kind.

It’s Wild Out There Safari – June 21st or 22nd:

Lions, and Tigers, and Bears, OH YEAH!!! We will go on a bear hunt, play some fabulous jungle theme games (tree frog toss, flashlight snake hunt, crocodile obstacle course) and make some great crafts to take home (safari vest with tools for the WILD, animal masks and much more).  Just follow the paw prints to begin the fun.  We’ll be waiting!  Ages 3 yrs. – Kind.

Happy Birthday America – July 3rd or 5th:

“GOD BLESS AMERICA!” We will celebrate our country’s 236th birthday in style with lots of games, crafts, and maybe even a birthday cake!  We will paint the country red, white, and blue, and make it a July 4th your kids won’t forget!  Ages 3 yrs. – Kind.

“I Scream, You Scream” – Ice Cream Camp – July 3rd or 5th:

Summer is the perfect time for Ice Cream Fun! Join us for ice cream games and crafts, a special story, and of course an ice cream sundae!  For those currently in 2′s.

Dog Days of Summer – August 7th or 8th:

Is your child afraid of dogs?  Or does your child love dogs so much that they approach any dog they see? Stormy,  an autism assistance dog,  is trained in basic obedience and has been socialized to remain calm in the face of chaos and to be friendly, but controlled. The children will meet Stormy and learn dog safety rules and practice approaching a strange dog and asking for permission before petting.  Ages 3 yrs. – Kind.

Candy Land – August 9th or 10th:

Gumdrops and lollipops, candy galore!…you will love all that we have in store! Come make a gumdrop tree, graph bigger than life candies, be a part of the gingerbread decorating contest, and make a visit to the candy store.  Lots of sweet surprises!  Ages 3 yrs. – Kind.

“Son Fun” – August 9th or 10th:

Put on your swimsuits and bring your beach towel as we spend a day at the beach and in the “SON”! We will “Tread” in Jesus’ footsteps as we walk in the sand, play in the water, and fish as we cast our nets out into the water just as Jesus did!  (Apply sunscreen before you come and don’t forget dry clothes.)  For those currently in 2′s.

SUNDAYS:

The Preschool Ministry lays the foundation for the beginning of a child’s spiritual journey.  We use the familiar song “Jesus Loves Me” as a model for our ministry.  As infants and toddlers, preschoolers are intentionally introduced to the names of God and Jesus.  They learn to trust in His existence by trusting the adults that take care of them each week at church.  In twos, threes, and fours, we add the verb ‘love’ to the preschooler’s world.  Through action-packed Bible stories, children see how Jesus loved people.  At ages five and six, “Jesus Loves Me” becomes personal, as the preschooler understands that Jesus loves them enough that He died for their sins.On Sunday mornings, preschoolers will be introduced to an exciting new curriculum called “In the Beginning…Growing into a Life of Faith.”  Beginning in twos, children will experience a large group time where they will learn easy-to-remember biblical truths through creative teaching, singing, visuals, sound effects and more each week.  Also, children will have small group time, where a leader continues to reinforce the key concept through age appropriate activities and games.

WEDNESDAYS:

On Wednesday nights from 6:15-7:15, children ages 3-5 are in a program written just for Carmel preschoolers called G.R.O.W. This program is based on the verse, “Jesus grew wiser and stronger and if favor of God and others,” Luke 2:52.  There are 4 components of G.R.O.W. The chidren learn about one each week.

• G – GLORIFY

A large group worship time for preschoolers is high energy and interactive.  Preschoolers learn age appropriate worship songs and how to express their worship through movement.

• R – RECITE

Lots of fun activities help the children learn and memorize scripture.  They paint an inch on a ruler for each verse they learn and watch their sunflowers grow!

• O – OTHERS

The focus on others comes through projects to benefit the elderly, shut-ins, widows, disaster vicims, etc.  These activities help a preschooler learn compassion for those around them.

• W – WORLD

The children learn about missionaries and mission work and enjoy activities and a snack that helps them better understand how the children in other places live.*Birth – 2′s are lovingly cared for each Wednesday night in their Downtown classrooms.

Mothers Of Preschoolers Ministry:

What is MOPS?

MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers.  MOPS helps moms build encouraging relationships in a local group of moms.  All moms who have children, birth – completed kindergarten are welcome!  We enjoy fellowship, food, a craft activity, and a special speaker on a topic relevant to preschool moms.

Carmel MOPS meets the first Tuesday of each month from 7:00 – 9:00 pm, September – May.  Registration fees provide you a one-year membership to MOPS, craft supplies, and a subscription to the MOPS magazine.  For more information, call 704-849-9723, opt. 1, to request a brochure and registration form.  Free childcare is provided for each meeting.
